IBHRE Marks 35 Year Milestone as a Leader in Heart Rhythm Certification

February 03, 2020

The International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) announced the launch of several months of celebration to recognize its 35-year anniversary, starting with IBHRE Day on Feb. 10th.  On this day, IBHRE and certified professionals will celebrate the Board’s inception, its history, and its impact on the field of electrophysiology and cardiac device therapy.

Established in 1985 as NASPExAM (derived from the North American Society of Pacing and Electrophysiology Exam), the organization was founded by Dr. Seymour Furman and later renamed the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE). Since its launch, the Board has grown in capacity and influence becoming a leading credentialing body for heart rhythm practitioners and industry professionals.

“IBHRE’s rich history, and its impact, in the field of cardiac rhythm device therapy confirms our founders’ foresight to validate the skills, abilities and knowledge of heart rhythm professionals,” said Dr. Charles J. Love, MD, IBHRE President and Director of Cardiac Rhythm Device Services at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

“Over the years, we have found that IBHRE has not only maintained its relevance, but it has proven essential to the field of heart rhythm management when it comes to promoting expert skill levels among practitioners,” Dr. Love added.

Today, IBHRE continues to promote a global body of knowledge in heart rhythm management, which stays in tune with the latest developments in the field.  In celebrating its historical milestone, IBHRE will host the following activities:
