As the only electrophysiologist in the UNC Health Appalachian, Dr. Hordes supervises the cardiac device clinic and actively implants CIED's and troubleshoots devices on a daily basis. He is also a dedicated educator having delivered numerous lectures to medical students, residents, and fellows while serving as a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at Brown University Medical School. As such, he twice received Brown's highest teaching award, and has served as an invited lecturer at Medtronic, Intermedics, St. Jude, Guidant, and Biotronik. Dr. Hordes became an IBHRE Ambassador in 2020 and was elected as Ambassador Program Chair in 2022.
VIEW MISSION, VISION & OBJECTIVES
IBHRE Ambassadors serve an essential role in advancing the IBHRE mission by encouraging heart rhythm professionals to achieve the certification, mentoring prospective examinees, and representing IBHRE’s interest with designated external organizations.
IBHRE Ambassadors represent the organization through:
- A positive understanding of the organization’s mission, vision, and strategy
- Articulating the value of professional competency
- Engaging with the heart rhythm management community to bring awareness to IBHRE certification
Ambassadors Advocate for IBHRE by:
- Serving as mentors
- Serving as IBHRE’s official spokespeople and liaisons to the Pacing and EP communities within their region by connecting them to IBHRE resources
- Being informed about the organization's current priorities
- Getting to know the population of heart rhythm professionals
- Communicating with IBHRE staff about events in their area
- Promoting IBHRE at professional development and networking events
To be considered as an IBHRE Ambassador, one must be current with their certification, be willing to serve at least one year in the position, and agree to the IBHRE Roles and Responsibilities. Applicants will be notified within 45 days of the application.
