Verification of Continuing Education

The IBHRE Verification of Continuing Education (VCE) promotes enhancement of the knowledge and skills essential to the delivery of optimal patient care through career-long learning. IBHRE recognizes continued competency through good standing in the practice and involvement in the heart rhythm management field. VCE is met by the following:

Five (5) years after passing the exam, certified professionals must attest to having completed 45 contact hours of professional activities that are applicable to their IBHRE certification. Individuals who do not meet VCE criteria will be identified in IBHRE's online certification directory and in their IBHRE record.

As of 2010, all IBHRE certified professionals are to complete a VCE application and pay a processing fee by December 1 of their fifth year of certification.

VCE Application Process

The online application consists of seven sections for submitting 45 contact hours of applicable VCE activities. The payment section will appear only after your 45 contact hours have been successfully entered. Please review each section for accuracy before submitting your application. Upon completion of the application, your credit card will be charged and you will receive a receipt via e-mail.

Contact hours must be directly applicable to the competencies listed in the certification exam content outline. Candidates must complete professional activities applicable to at least three (3) different exam content outline areas in order to be approved.

IBHRE-C3

The International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners has transitioned to a new certification maintenance program, IBHRE-Continuous Competency, Continuous Learning, Continuous Certification (C3).

An innovative approach to longitudinal assessments, IBHRE-C3 is a real time competency validation process that helps specialists remain current in their area of expertise while maintaining their certification. It is a completely virtual process that no longer requires certified specialists to sit for the 10-year comprehensive exam.

Note: VCE is not required for specialists enrolled in C3.
